Port Coquitlam. I came to Canada as an immigrant years ago. I had an opportunity to learn about the struggles of living on welfare through the people I have worked with. I am taking this challenge because I want to remind myself of the privileges I have, not having to worry about eating healthy food of my choice while having my own place. Also, I would like to take part in raising awareness of the insufficient income assistance with which people have to survive on a daily basis in BC. I hope that politicians and policy makers look at the realities of those on insufficient income assistance in BC where affordable housing are being torn down and replaced by condos and rent keeps rising. Whose voice is the province supposed to listen to and whose the most basic human needs is it supposed to address first and foremost?
