Today was tough; I was very lethargic the whole day and I am not sure if it’s due to lack of sleep or lack of food or both. All I know is that food was on my mind. I had a full work day and during one of my meetings, it was challenging to be attentive and contribute to the group because of the hunger pangs. Even after I came home and ate dinner, I was so hungry that it was difficult to sleep. It made me think that it must be tough to worry or accomplish anything, like looking for a job, when all you can think about is your hunger. An insufficient amount of food lowers your energy level, mood, motivation, and even your social engagement with others. I noticed that I had less interest to interact with others. These factors might influence one’s chances to get hired for a job or even build connections in your community.
