Grocery shopping and meal plan

Hi My name is Mona, and I am taking the challenge, here is what my grocery shop cost and what I purchased and how I am using it.

I also want to say that I am a very thrifty shopper and keeper of the household budget. I live with a teenager who did not want to take the challenge because she said she would cheat everyday and that was not fair. So I am cooking two meals everyday in my house right now, what I am eating and what she is eating..
Todays menu, Me.
1/3 cup oatmeal,
1 tea bag =2 cups tea.
hearty veg and beef barley soup, Lunch and dinner

Her menu,
Tea biscuits I made yesterday for her,
what ever else she scammed at school
munchies( bag of mixed chops and thngs)  after school with a movie and friends, slurpees. – large pasta and chicken stirfry, with veggies..

I spent 9.83 on
almost a pound of ground beef reg,
1 2lb bag of carrots,
1 bag yellow onions
1 rutabaga
1 celery bunch
1 ear of garlic,
1 handful barley
1 bunch of swiss chard
1 can of noname stewed tomatoes.

I used 2 celery stalks 3 carrots and 2 onions 2 large cloves of garlic, all the barley and all the ground beef, and the can of stewed tomatoes, the whole rutabaga. and half bunch of the swiss chard. I made a big pot of beef barley veggie soup this will feed me lunch and dinner until friday.. Then I will go again and figure out what to do.
I figure the first few days will be okay then it will get harder, I have to say not having my coffee is a bit testy, but I will get over it..
What I am finding right now is the challenge knowing if I had a bit more I could eat so much better and I have that means right in front of me in my own cupboards.. but it is off limits. I think I will do okay in the end, but I am not wasting anything, that means boiling all the ends of the carrots celery onion peels rutabaga peels etc, garlic to make a broth that I can use later, worried about nutrition.
So I will blog again in a day or so, and see where I am at..
